Newsletter – Spec and Soul

You can subscribe to my email list (newsletter), called Spec and Soul. If you do so I collect your email and, when you chose to provided it, your name. Both are only saved if you confirm the sign-up in the double-opt-in confirmation email.

You can cancel the subscription to the emails at any time. There is a link for an automatic unsubscription in every newsletter send-out. Alternatively, you can send your cancellation to the following e-mail address: . I’ll cancel your subscription at the earliest time possible.

The newsletter is hosted by the European company Sender. Your data does not leave the EU.

I store your email and name as long as you are subscribed to my list. When you unsubscribe, the data is deleted within 90 days.

Legal grounds: Explicit consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR.

Emails & messages via contact forms

If you send me an email or reach out via contact forms, I save it as long as necessary to provide a proper response, have the discussion started with the email or form, or provide a requested service.

After this is done, your emails or form data are deleted within 90 days, except if we enter a ongoing work relationship. These are solely based on individual written contracts.

The legal grounds for processing this data depends on the nature of your request:

• Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, if your inquiry is related to the performance of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures (like requesting a quote).
• Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, based on my legitimate interest in responding effectively and promptly to general inquiries.
• Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR, if I am legally obligated to retain certain communications due to statutory tax, commercial, or financial record-keeping laws. In this case the data will be kept for 7 years, according to § 132 (1) BA) and § 212 UGB.

Your data will be deleted as soon as the purpose for storing it no longer applies (e.g., after your request has been fully resolved), provided that no mandatory statutory retention periods prevent its deletion.

Comments

If you leave a comment on the site, your email address, the provided name, a string of text that identifies your browser, language and operating system and an anonymised version of your IP address are stored along with the comment itself. If you use a social media service to login to the account section, your account name or profile for that specific social media site will be saved in our database instead of your e-mail address. Comments have a checkbox that asks for your consent, before you can send it.

If you delete your comment, the data is deleted within 90 days.

Cookies

The website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your device using the browser. They do no harm, but enable additional functionality on the website.

There are different kinds of cookies used on the website. Find out everything you need to know in my Cookie Policy.

Disabling cookies might limit the functionality of the website.

User-behaviour

I track where on my site you go, to identify which content is interesting for you and other readers. I use this to produce more exciting content and to show you info about my products or services that might be of interest to you. For this tracking I use Matomo, which runs local on the server (Matomo on-premise on the servers of World4You).

If tracking is enabled, you can disable this in the Cookie Settings. Tracking is currently disabled completely.

Legal grounds: Legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (in this case to track performance of the websites content to improve value to the visitors).

Embeds

I have embedded content for external services or social media, like Youtube, Instagram, Spotify, Tik Tok and more. Per default, most of these services check if you have an account with them and display customised content in the embed if you do.

You can enable and disable this tracking via the cookie preferences. You can find them in the cookie banner when you first visit our page or via the cookie button at the bottom left.

If you disable the cookies for certain services, the embedded content will not be displayed.

A note on social media

If you follow on me on social media (like YouTube, Instagram, X, Facebook, Threads, TikTok and their likes), the platform’s “privacy rules” and “terms of service” apply. Please find these on the websites or in the apps of the specific social media platform.

World4You hosts my website, handles domain registration and my regular email accounts. It receives and processes all data that is part of my website and my (non-list) email traffic. The email lists are handled by Sender.

Type of data processed: Content of the website, domain, email data, tracking data of website visitors (via local Matomo installation), server log-files.
